The parliament has passed the bill which will increase duty on energy, fizzy drinks, and tobacco products.
With this act, there will be an increase of 20 Rufiyaa from a box of cigarette and 8 Rufiyaa from energy drinks.
The bill was passed as it was passed in the committee stage. When the votes were taken for the bill, the MP for Gan constituency was sitting on the speaker’s chair.
