Tourism Minister and deputy leader of PPM, Moosa Zameer have said that the army should be free from political influence.
Speaking at a press conference held today at PPM’s office the minister said that politicians are of different ideologies and there should be some people in the country who are neutral and free from all political influences.
Speaking at the press conference, PG leader of PPM Ahmed Nihaan said that the army is not allowed to vote in countries which are more democratic than Maldives. Nihaan said that the current government has undertaken projects to provide housing and many other services to MNDF and hence the government does have full support of MNDF. He said that even how, the government does not want to take advantage of MNDF.
The spokesperson of PPM Ali Arif said that even though PPM enjoys the greatest support from police and MNDF, PPM is more interested in working for national interest. Nihaan revealed that as soon as the bill regarding the voting rights of the army is proposed to the parliament, they will pass it.
