F.Atoll project needs to be conducted for national development : Dr.Muizzu
Housing Minister Dr. Muhammad Muizzu have said that F.Atoll project needs to be conducted for national development and the project will be conducted lawfully and not in a way that Maldives will lose sovereignty over the atoll.
He made this statement while speaking to the Guardian. Dr.Muizzu said that the government wants to develop Maldives within a short period and that can be achieved by conducting such mega projects. “ The government is not putting the sovereignty of the country up for sale. We hope that this will be a mega project. The government wants to bring a positive change to the lives of people within a short time” said the Minister.
Dr.Muizzu said that there are many islands in the Maldives which are unused and there is no reason why these islands should not be developed for tourism. He also said that there is no reason why the islands should not be leased to people with the capacity and means to develop them.
In addition, he said that, the land and population size of the islands often hinder development. He noted that people from such islands are often relocated larger islands with many privileges.
It is important to bring in more brands and resorts to Maldives to make the government’s aim to bring 7 million tourists to Maldives annually.
