Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Ibrahim Rasheed have said that those who make false statements about a country which fully implements Islamic shariah should repent.
Speaking to Miadhu News, regarding former president Nasheed’s statement about Saudi Arabia as a country which provides terrorists, the sheikh said that Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world which fully implements Islamic shariah. He said that hence, it is worrisome to see that a Maldivian making a false statement about Saudi Arabia.
He said that he spent more than 10 years in Saudi Arabia and have never witnessed anything Nasheed described about Saudi Arabia. “ We were taught discipline and given Islamic education. It was forbidden for us to talk about politics or become extreme. Our scholars advised us to be moderate even when inviting people to Islam” said the sheikh.
Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed said that they were never taught to be extreme or adopt the ways of terrorists. He said that no matter who says it, he will never believe that Saudi Arabia funds terrorism or assists terrorist in anyway. “ That is definitely a lie. I am sure that no such thing happens in Saudi Arabia” said the Sheikh.
In addition, he said that all Maldivians should be happy about the close relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. He said that there is no other country in the world better than Saudi Arabia which a 100 percent Muslim country like Maldives should form relations with.
“We are happy with the work the president is doing, by forming close relations with Saudi Arabia to develop Maldives. We really support it and everyone should be happy about it” said the sheikh. Furthermore, Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed said that, he believes that those who make false statements about Saudi Arabia a country which works hard to promote Islam, should repent.
He also said that Saudi Arabia is a very important country since their assistance is needed in Hajj and Umra as well. He said that the relations between the two countries should be strengthened even more.
