The government will assist Maldivian women to engage in any work they desire : President Yameen
President Yameen have stated that the government will assist Maldivian women to engage in any work they desire.

The president made this statement in a ceremony held this morning to mark international women’s day. Rehendhi awards were also given in this ceremony.

The president said that, it was in 1952 that a woman in Maldives for the first time got appointed to the position of a secretory in a government office. He said that there are 3 women in the cabinet today.

The president said that it was Muhammad Ameen who started bringing in women to the government workforce. “During his administration, there were two houses of the parliament. There were women in the senate” said the president.

The president also noted the work done by the government and first lady to empower women in Maldives. President said that the government will facilitate women to a reach to leadership positions in the country. In addition he said that even now women faces challenges in the workplace and he advised to prevent such things in workplace.
