Saudi Embassy has released a statement saying that the government of Saudi Arabia has no intention of purchasing a land, island or an atoll from Maldives to conduct any project. The statement said that media is spreading this news without contacting the embassy regarding the issue.
It further states that the government of Saudi Arabia does not even want to conduct any project like that and that they are unhappy about these untrue allegations.
Since President Yameen announced that the government is planning to start a project worth 10 billion dollars in Faafu Atoll which would develop the economy of Maldives, the opposition has been busy doing everything they can to stop the project.
They are informing various foreign media saying that Maldives is selling an atoll to Saudi Arabia. The government stated that the government does not intend to sell any atoll and that the opposition is trying to obstruct development.
A lot of people in Maldives are asking Saudi Arabia to be an economic partner to the Maldives and to invest in Maldives. The only people who are against this are the too figures of MDP who tried to strengthen relations with Israel during their administration instead of establishing better relationship with Islamic Countries.
