No confidence vote against Maseeh to be taken on 27th March !
The session to take no confidence vote against the speaker of the parliament has been scheduled for 27th March.

The secretariat of the parliament has sent notice to the speaker Abdullah Maseeh and parliament members about the session. Motion to take a no confidence vote against him was submitted to the parliament last Wednesday with 26 signatures. It was submitted by MP for Dhiggaru Ahmed Faaris Maumoon.

According to parliament’s regulations the session to take a vote of no confidence against the speaker of parliament should be scheduled in the session after 10 working days of the submission of the motion. In addition, if there is a motion to take a vote of no confidence against the speaker of the parliament, the parliament cannot debate on any other issue before reaching a decision on the no confidence issue. In addition, the session where the vote of no confidence issue will be discussed will be chaired by the deputy speaker. The debate about the no confidence motion shall not be longer than three hours and the speaker of the parliament has the right to speak in his defence.

The motion to dismiss the speaker can only be passed if most the members present during the session votes for the motion. If this motion passes, the speaker of the parliament will be forced to resign.
