Workshop held with Sri Lanka on improving the quality of education has ended !
Workshop held between education minister of Maldives and the education minister of Sri Lanka Akila Viraaj Kariyavasam on improving the quality of education, has ended.

Speaking to the press today, education minister Aishath Shihaam said that they discussed things that Maldives and Sri Lanka can do together to improve the quality of education. She said that specially they discussed on improving the quality of teachers and principals.

“The Sri Lankan education minister shared that they plan to offer scholarships to Maldives from various fields” said the minister. In addition, she said that they discussed on training teachers for children with disabilities and training principals.

She said that, in Sri Lanka also the department for history and archives is under the education ministry like in Maldives. “ Hence in a near future, we will sign an agreement to work together on these areas. With that agreement, we can work more closely on promoting culture and history” said the minister.

The minister noted that now there is a Maldivian cultural center in Sri Lankan which teaches Islam, Quran and Dhivehi to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka. Speaking at the press, the Sri Lankan education minister said that they discussed about training teachers. The minister further said that 5 scholarships will be awarded to Maldives and they are ready to assist to develop the education sector.
