Even though the government has not officially announced it, Male’ city is now under quarantine. In the press conference held last night, Dr.Niyaaf revealed it.
He advised, not to visit Male’ unnecessarily and asked residents of Male’ to visit other islands unnecessarily as well.
Instead of waiting for a government order, it is important to listen to the advice of doctors in cases like this. In such cases, government will issue an order as a last resort. What is important is taking necessary actions proactively.

Pregnant women are affected the most in this disease. Even now a pregnant woman is being treated at the ICU. Hence pregnant women should take extra precautions.
Health Ministry has announced alert level 3. This was announced after 51 people out of 251 people got positive for H1N1. Since it is 20 percent of the tested sample, it is a high rate.
Those who contact this virus, will have difficulty in breathing. In serious cases, the lungs will not function properly and patients will have to breathe through a ventilator. It will take 1 to 4 days for symptoms to appear after catching the virus.
So far a resident of Hulhumale’ has passed away after catching the virus. The person was in a critical condition even when he was taken to IGMH. Since Hulhumale’ has a lot of tourists it is important to take precautions. If something happens to a tourist, it will get the attention of the whole world and it will affect the economy of Maldives.
