STO has opened a special distribution center to distribute medicine. The center will be used to send medicine to the STO pharmacies in the atolls.
In a ceremony held at Ghiyaasudeen International School tonight to give more information about the center, the MD of STO Ahmed Shaheer said that all medicine required to cure influenza will be available from STO pharmacies.
In addition, he said that islands with regional hospitals will have a huge stock of medicine available and small islands will regularly receive medicine from the distribution center. Shaheer said that they provide vaccines and medicine needed by HPA on schedule as well. He said that even though STO always has medicine required for flu and fever, due to the huge demand there were some shortages this time.
Furthermore, he said that the amount of medicine delivered to the islands everyday increased by 40 percent. He said that the distribution center will operate till conditions regarding the influenza returns to normal.
