Gas cylinder in Mulhadhooge did not explode – regulator and pipe caught fire due to carelessness!
Yesterday the media outlets in Maldives reported that a gas cylinder exploded in Mulhadhooge. However, based on the statement by MNDF it seems that the cylinder did not explode. The incident occurred due to carelessness.

The incident occurred because after changing the gas cylinder, they used the gas cylinder without tightening the regulator properly.

It is not likely that a gas cylinder will explode just like that. Gas cylinders are filled after taking all necessary precautions. The cylinders are often checked and since these are used in households’ gas suppliers are very careful about the safety measures.

Media outlets reported saying the cylinder exploded maybe because of the tweet by Maldives police service. It is likely that Police tweeted without full knowledge of what happened.

Even though some medias tried to blame Villa gas for the incident, the statement by MNDF shows that Villa Gas was not at fault in the incident.
