Pakistani Ambassador to Maldives Saeed Khavaar Ali Shaah have said that the Islamic culture of Maldives is an example to the whole world.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Hotel Jen last night to celebrate the 77th Pakistan Day, the ambassador said that when Maldivians and Pakistanis meet each other they do not feel that that they are meeting foreigners but feel like they are the same.
The ambassador said that Pakistan is assisting Maldives in various areas including educational opportunities and developing medical sector professionals. The ambassador said that 27 percent of the Maldivian doctors studied in Pakistan and now they are working in different levels of the sector.
In addition he said that since early 1990s Maldivians has been studying at Aligalhu University and that is why Urdu is a popular language among Maldivian scholars. He noted that there are close relations between Dhivehi and Urdu.
He also said that the share of Pakistanis are increasing in Maldivian businesses. The ambassador also said that the number of tourists from Pakistan to Maldives are increasing.
The ambassador praised the developmental projects started by President Yameen. He said that even Pakistan is developing despite the many challenges they face. “It is estimated that the economy will develop by 7 percent” said the ambassador.
He noted that foreign investments are increasing in Pakistan. He said that Chinese companies are conducting projects worth billions of dollars.
Pakistan day is celebrated to mark the day the resolution to create Pakistan was declared. It was declared on 23rd March 1940. Pakistan was created on 1947.
