Secretory General of the parliament, Ahmed Muhammad have said that the voting card used in the parliament’s voting process is located on the table of the members.
Ahmed Muhammad said that, it does not mean other members should vote using the cards of members who are not present. He said that parliament members should be more responsible than that.
In the vote taken yesterday, votes were casted using the cards of MP Mahloof and MP Moosa Manik. He said that, they will check the CCTV footage of the parliament. In addition, some other members claimed that votes were casted under their name while they were not near their tables when the votes were casted. Hence it is believed that some other members voted while they were not there.
This shows that the voting system of the parliament should be further developed. For instance, in addition to using the personalized voting card, it can also be password protected.
