A member of the parliament claimed that he distributed bags full of money to other parliament members. No institution has so far revealed if they investigated this case.
When Qasim Ibrahim said that he will help MPs of JP who vote in accordance with JP whip line to get elected, it has become a huge problem. The police are now investigating the case. When Qasim promised to help a parliament member to get re-elected, it has now become a bribery case.
These kind of problems are not new for Qasim Ibrahim. He helps people financially quite often. During former President Nasheed’s administration, Qasim Ibrahim was investigated after a phone call of MP Mohammed Nasheed got leaked. In the phone call Nasheed was requesting a loan from Qasim. The investigative authorities have the right to investigate these types of cases.
People are voicing concerns over the current investigation. Most people are questioning why the police is not investigating the member who claimed to have distributed bags full of money while they are investigating something Qasim said quite openly.
Why are the police investigating Qasim, without investigating the MP who claimed to have distributed bags of money ?
