A Maldivian has been elected as board member of Inter-Parliamentary Union IPU for the first time.
MP for Maafannu Dhekunu constituency Abdullah Rifaau (Bochey) was elected to this position last week. Rifaau competed with candidates from Iran and Mongolia. Rifaau secured 12 votes out of 18 votes.
Previously Rozaina Adam and Ahmed Mahloof contested for this position however they were not able to get elected.
