Maldives Hajj Corporation has celebrated their achievements of the past three years.
A special ceremony was held at Hotel Jen tonight. The chief guest of the ceremony was defence minister Adam Shareef Umar.
Speaking at the ceremony the Chairman of the corporation, Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Ibrahim said that formation of the Hajj Corporation brought happiness to Maldivians.
Special shields were given to various government departments who assisted the corporation in the past three years. These shields were distributed by the chief guest Adam Shareef Umar.
Speaking at the ceremony tonight the minister said that Maldivians always loved Islam and since long ago Maldivians had a culture of going to Hajj. He further said that providing this service through a government corporation is a huge service to the people of Maldives.
Furthermore, the defence minister highlighted the close relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. He noted that the presence of a Saudi embassy in Maldives had made the procedures for Hajj a lot easier. In addition, certificates of recognition were given to those people who assist the pilgrims during the Hajj season. They were given the certificates by the chairman of the corporation.
