Did not obstruct the police: Wanted to go to the police station and handover my phone because I could not read the court warrant: Abdullah Riyaz

Deputy Leader of JP, Abdullah Riyaz has said that he did not obstruct the police in carrying out their duty. He said that he did not want to hand over his phone on the street because he could not understand what was written on the court warrant and hence wanted to hand over the phone at the police station.

Speaking to the press tonight after going to the police station tonight, Riyaz said that on 27th march two plain clothed policemen asked him to give his phone after showing him a warrant. He said that however, he could not read it because the street was dark and hence requested to go to the police station to hand over the phone.

“That area is the same area where black oil was thrown at me. Hence, I was kind of shocked when they approached me. They took my phone from my pocket. After bringing the vehicle they took me to Galolhu Police Station. Then they took me to the police headquarters. When I knew, what was written on the court order, I did not refuse, and I complied” said Riyaz.

In addition, he said that his phone has a finger-print lock and he did not unlock it for the police because the court order does not say that he should do it. He said that if they obtain and order for that, is willing to unlock it as well.

Riyaz said that when he was summoned to the police the next day the phone was off and he could not unlock it with his finger print and even with the passwords. “Hence I knew that someone unlocked the phone” said Riyaz.

He further said that he will always comply with the orders of the police and will never obstruct police in carrying out their duty. He also said that he will remain true to his pledge and serve his nation.
