A few years back it was common that people who pay Hajj and Umra group their life savings were unable to go to Hajj because these groups tends to steal the money.
Even now some cases regarding these groups are going on in courts. The government has helped in the past to those who lost money like this. However, the money state spends cannot be reimbursed usually.
Previously, a Hajj group owner’s house was sold and the money was used on people who paid money to his group to go to Hajj. Lands owned by a second person were sold like this as well.

It was Maldives Hajj Corporation that solved all these problems. Maldives Hajj Corporation was officially inaugurated on 2nd March 2014. It was former Islamic Minister Dr.Shaheem Ali Saeed who started the work of the corporation. Former President Dr.Waheed Hussain gave the permission for Dr.Shaheem to form the corporation. After it was formed, the corporation developed at a fast pace due to the priority given to the project by President Yameen.

Speaking at the ceremony held last night to mark the third anniversary of Hajj Corporation, the chairman of the corporation Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed said that a lot of people hoped to save money to perform Hajj. He said that Hajj corporation has facilitated this service.
In addition, he said that the biggest development for the company is getting the trust of the people and today they have earned it. He said that their aim is to provide the most perfect services to the people of Maldives.
Members of Hajj Corporation who invests in the corporation makes profits through their earnings. Thus, they can even perform Hajj at a cheaper price. The services of the corporation are well received among Maldivians.
