President Yameen have said that no leader will be loved by everyone and the leader should always rule in the best interest of everyone.
Speaking at a function held by PPM last night, the president said that even though there are people who dislike him, it is his responsibility to govern in a way that is most beneficial for everyone. He said that the people elected him to fulfil that responsibility.
President said that Maldivians are peaceful people and things have gone out of hand due to the carelessness of past rulers. He said that people will not like him when he starts taking action against criminals but it is something he should do for the greater good of the society.
In addition, he said that he is working to make Maldives the happiest and prosperous nation in the region. “ Let’s hope that Allah paves us the way to achieve that” said the president. He said that he will always work to maintain peace and stability in the society.
President also repeated that he will implement death penalty and asked those who are oppose this to tell more ways to protect the rights of the criminals. He said that the people of Maldives wants development and prosperity and political leaders should allow that to happen.
He also said that if anyone finds something unacceptable that is being done by the government, and if he is informed about it even through an SMS he will attend to it. The president said that, hence he will not allow anyone to create unrest.
