I can be jailed but the reform movement cannot be stopped : Qasim


Leader of Jumhoory Party Qasim Ibrahim have said that if the government wishes he can be jailed even tomorrow but the reform movement cannot be stopped.

Speaking at a rally held at Kunooz by the opposition last night, Qasim said that he has received information that the government is planning to jail him. He said that the case is already in the criminal court and they are trying to schedule a hearing soon.

Qasim said that he believes that he will have to go to jail before the vote of no confidence against the deputy speaker of the parliament is taken on 11th of April. He said that when the government conducts projects they should keep in mind to keep the costs at minimum or else the debt of the nation will increase. He said that the it should be remembered that the debt will be paid by the citizens of Maldives.

In addition, he said that backstabbing everyone who helped you is not in the best interest of the country and the solution is to be stop being oppressive and rule in accordance with the laws. He said that even if all critics are jailed there will always be some people who work for reform.
