Jail is not new for Qasim Ibrahim – He is used to jail since he started his political career : Ameen
Deputy Leader of JP, Ameen Ibrahim have said that jail is not a new place for Qasim Ibrahim and he is used to being jailed since he started his political career.

Speaking to Miadhu News from UK, Ameen said that there are many things that should be reformed in Maldives and Qasim is working to reform these things. Ameen said that Qasim was at the forefront of democratic activities in Maldives during the early days of reform work. He said that if things are going in the wrong direction Qasim always tried to make it right.

In addition, Ameen said that Qasim was arrested unlawfully. “The PG did not accept the case sent to them by the police. That is because the investigation was incomplete. So, they arrested Qasim even without completing the investigation. This is unconstitutional” said Ameen.

Ameen said that in the past arresting Qasim have led to regime change. “In 2004 Qasim was arrested. The regime changed in the next election. In 2011 Qasim was arrested and in 2012 the regime changed. That is because Qasim is loved by a lot of people in the Maldives and because he has everyone’s well wishes with him” said Ameen.
