Former Vice President Dr.Jameel have said that police can only arrest a politician or anyone only when they have strong evidence to do so and that police intelligence reports are not strong evidence.
Dr.Jameel said that it is unconstitutional to arrest a citizen for the purpose of investigation, without any strong evidence. In addition, Dr.Jameel said that Qasim is an example to the whole world for serving the country and the people. He also said that Qasim is an example in working for reform as well.
“He loves the development of the judiciary and the police. He spent on his own for that and I witnessed it. When I was in high positions and faced challenges, Qasim helped with it” said Dr.Jameel.
Dr.Jameel said that Qasim was arrested and tortured during Maumoon’s administration as well and he was saved because a lot of people worked for it. In addition, Dr.Jameel said that MDP was able to win the 2008 elections because of the sacrifices made by Qasim but he was arrested even during the MDP administration. Furthermore, Dr.Jameel said that in the 2013 elections PPM got just 1500 votes more than PPM and Qasim decided to form coalition with PPM without and demands and the agreement was formed much later.
He said that after joining the coalition, Qasim spent a lot for the campaign and even gave resources for free. Dr.Jameel said that Qasim started working for reform while knowing the consequences but because he knows that working for reform is more important than his personal interests.
In addition, Dr.Jameel said that while fully knowing the consequences Qasim started working for reform and that is proof of the love he has for the people and for the nation. He also said that Qasim got the chance to leave the country without facing any of these things, but he is not someone who will flee the country. Dr.Jameel said that Qasim will bravely face all the challenges for the nation.
