The PG only should request for a court warrant in criminal cases related to parliament members : Abdullah Shahid
Former Speaker of the parliament and MP for Henveyru Uthuru, Abdullah Shahid have said that the PG only should request for an arrest warrant regarding criminal cases related to parliament members.

Today he tweeted saying that and said that Qasim’s arrest violates the regulation on arresting parliament members. He even tweeted the exact clause of the legislation.

According to that legislation, unless a parliament members is caught while committing a crime, then the arrest of a parliament member should be requested by the PG from the superior court.

So based on this legislation, Qasim’s arrest was unlawful. However, the government states that the government will not do anything unlawful.
