STO has signed an agreement with Fenaka to build new fuel tanks for Fenaka and to calibrate all exsiting ones.
In a ceremony held this morning to sign the agreement, the MD of STO Ahmed Shaheer said that with this agreement STO will supply fuel for all the powerhouses managed by Fenaka.
STO will calibrate all fuel tanks before September of this year. Shaheer said that calibrating does not cost that much, but building new tanks is costly. “Once we are done with calibrating we will talk about building new tanks and decide. STO always prioritizes fuel security. All the islands should have a month’s reserve of fuel” said Shaheer.
MD of Fenaka Muhammad Shareef said that once the tanks are calibrated it will be easy to monitor how much fuel is in the tanks. Hence issues like losing fuel will be less. He said that starting from 1st May Fenaka will buy fuel from STO. He said that Fenaka needs 5.5 million liters of fuel every month.
Shaheer said that the president wants different state owned companies to work together and help each other. In addition, he said that during the function held to mark ensuring of 24 hours’ electricity, he recommended STO to provide better services to all utility providers.
In addition, he said that they followed the president’s recommendations and they have widened FSM’s network in the past two years. Shaheer said that two new tankers have been added to FSM’s fleets. Furthermore, Shaheer said that new technical staffs also have been trained for FSM.
