General committee of the parliament has passed to require signature of 42 members to submit a censure motion against the speaker of the parliament.
The chair of the committee, MP for Kelaa Ali Arif said that if this amendment is passed in the parliament the current censure motions proposed by the opposition against the speaker and the deputy speaker will be void.
Previously the session to take a vote regarding the censure motion against the deputy speaker was scheduled for 11th April. The censure motion against the speaker was submitted with signatures from 31 members.
Only a simple majority is required to pass these motions.
