MP for Feridhoo constituency, Hussain Muhammad have said that if a parliament member is detained by the police for any reason, the parliamentary privilege committee should be informed but so far the committee has not been informed about Qasim’s detention.
Speaking at today’s parliament session Hussen Muhammad said that this is something that should be done according to parliament’s regulations and he is concerned that it has not been done yet. Qasim was arrested on 6th April. It has been 72 hours since the arrest of Qasim Ibrahim.
The speaker of the parliament, Abdullah Maseeh said that the police has followed all the procedures regarding the detention and even the parliament has done what is required for the parliament to do in this case. However, he did not reveal any details.
In addition, the speaker did not give Hussen Muhammad chance to finish his speech.
