MP for Kaashidhoo constituency, Faisal Naseem have stated that the people of Maldives believes that JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim is a huge security to the Maldives and asked who is saying that he is a danger to the country.
Speaking at a function held by the opposition coalition tonight, Faisal said that a person can be arrested fearing for the safety of the society only if that person has a high potential for creating unrest. He said that even PPM members believe that Qasim is not like this and there is no way that Qasim can be portrayed as a danger to the society.
Faisal said that anyone can be oppressive when they have power but those who work for reform will not backdown. He said that especially Qasim’s motivation and commitment will not be diminished. Faisal said that the oppressors should know they will not remain powerful forever and that there will be a day when they will be held accountable.
Faisal said that the nation can be administered peacefully only when the oppression stops and by freeing Qasim Ibrahim and other leaders who are being oppressed.
“The love of people cannot be gained through fear and intimidation. But fear surrounds us all. If we gather in a place like this the police comes and spray pepper spray like people spray sheltox to kill cockroaches.
Faisal said that those days when police acted in this manner are now over and today they should focus about providing safety and security to the people. Faisal focused on talking about justice and to rule in a just manner. He asked to remember that there will be a hereafter and that there will be no excuses that can be shown on that day.
