Former Deputy PG and member of Qasim Ibrahim’s legal team have said that JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim does not wish to talk about the difficulties he is facing in Dhoonidhoo prison.
Shameem said that he cannot reveal the details because his client does not wish to reveal it yet.
Qasim’s legal team and senior figures of JP met with Human Rights Commission of the Maldives today.
During the meeting, they informed HRCM that Qasim is not allowed to meet with family and even though the criminal court ordered to keep Qasim in a ventilated room, the police have not acted accordingly. In addition, they said that there were difficulties in providing medicine for Qasim as well.
Qasim’s supporters and family are worried that his life might be at risk, since even previously he faced life threatening circumstances while in Dhoonidhoo Prison.
A lot of people are concerned that Qasim has been detained unlawfully after the Police brought back the case and started new investigations with a different team. Police To get the court order to arrest Qasim police has said his case is a serious case, but now they have removed the case from Serious crimes unit and hand overed it to General investigation unit
If we look at the history of Dhoonidhoo, famous historian Koli Hassan Manik also faced life threatening circumstances while in Dhoonidhoo regarding a political case since he didn’t get his medicine.
