Leader of Jumuhoory Party, Qasim Ibrahim has requested the speaker of the parliament to treat all members impartially.
He made this request in a special parliament session held tonight. Qasim made this request because the speaker did not allow Qasim to attend the parliament sessions while he was in police custody. He said that he always attends the parliament sessions and committee meetings when he is in Male.
In addition, he said that everyone who has responsibilities bestowed upon them must fulfil the responsibilities sincerely but today people are acting insincerely. Qasim also thanked all those who spoke in his defence while he was detained.
Many other members who spoke at tonight’s sessions raised concerns because the parliament failed to follow the procedure when Qasim was detained.
