No need to attain education just to criticize, instead of trying to develop the country – Azima

Minister at the President’s Office, Aishath Azima Shukoor have said that there is no point in attaining education just to be on the side lines criticizing everything without trying to develop the country.

Speaking at the National University’s graduation ceremony last night, Azima said that it will be very easy for anyone to be on the sidelines to criticize. She said that however it is a difficult responsibility to serve the nation. In addition, she said that it was a huge achievement for women that 73 percent of the graduates were women but gender is not important when it comes to national development. She said that what is important is serving the nation after studies.

Furthermore, she said that no matter who participates or not, the country will develop and what is important is to take part in the process and get happiness from it. She said that when fulfilling jobs, it is important to do it to bring some results rather than to fill time. In addition, she said that the purpose of studying is not to waste time in talking uselessly and the purpose of studying would be to do something that is beneficial for the nation.

Azima also said that Maldivian students are performing well in foreign universities and hence Maldivians should be able to get good jobs from abroad as well. She said that Maldivians attained development when there were no resources in the past and now the progress should be faster since there are more resources.
