Deputy President of Women on Boards, Dr.Aishath Muneeza have said that women played a huge role in the development of Maldives and the work done by women should be made known.
Speaking at a ceremony held at Champa Central Hotel to release “Leadership Role for all Women” report, Dr.Muneeza said that women played a key role in the development of the country always but so far there has been no report which shows the contribution of women.
Dr.Muneeza said that this report was compiled after a nationwide survey and that this was an important work. She said that the report shows that there is equal opportunity but still there is a huge “gap”.
Dr.Munzeeza said that in the work done to empower women, it is important to empower them economically. She said that WOB is active in empowering women and that they recognize who are serving in various sectors.
The report was officially released by State Minister for Health, Dunya Maumoon. While, the government has made a special ministry for women, one must wonder why such a report has not been published yet.
