Leadership role for women – Survey on gender diversity and empowerment in Maldives report released
Women on Boards has released a report based on a nation-wide survey done on gender diversity and female empowerment in Maldives. The report was released in a ceremony held at Champa Central Hotel this morning.

The chief guest of the ceremony was State Minister for Health, Dunya Maumoon. Important information that will be available from the report includes, views of women in leadership positions in Maldives on ways how women can be empowered. In addition, the report also includes the level of economic empowerment among women in some other countries.

This is the first research of this kind in the Maldives. WOB says that this report will be a foundation for further researches in this field. In addition to releasing the report another important event took place in the ceremony.

Certificates of recognition were given to companies which has 40 percent of the board members as women. This is part of WOB’s effort to encourage companies to increase role of women in leadership positions. Companies that received this certificate are MWSC, Dhivehi Insurance Company, Maldives Pension Administration Office and Allied Insurance Company of Maldives.
