Execution chamber has been completed: will be fully equipped within 2-3 months – President Yameen

President Yameen have said that the execution chamber to carry out death penalty has been completed and within 2-3 months it will be fully equipped.

Speaking at the function held to mark the 125thanniversary of Maldivian National Defence Force, the president said that the things that are ongoing in Maldives shows the importance of implementing death penalty.
He said that the country can be at peace only when the laws are implemented impartially and that the government will do it. He said that all criminals should believe that the laws will catch up with them one day.
In addition, he said that Maldivians should be ensured of safety and security while they are in their home land. President said that things went this far because preventive measures were not taken. The highlighted that many political leaders opposed the death penalty.
