Speaking on behalf of Yameen Rasheed’s family, Lawyer Imad Solih have said that if the real murderer cannot be found there is no point in carrying out the investigation.
Imad Solih said that the family did not receive any information about the actions police should have taken right after the murder. He also said that it is not known whether police obtained CCTV footage of the area.
In addition, he said that the truth behind Dr.Afrasheem’s murder have also not been found. He said that he does not believe that the police could find the truth about Yameen’s murder since they could not find who was behind Dr.Afrasheem’s murder even though he was a prominent scholar and a politician.
Imad said that for Yameen’s family what’s important is not the actual killer but the people who planned it. He said that if the police cannot find information about those who planned it, then there is no point in investigating the case.
In addition, Imad said that in the past 4 years 18 people have been killed and that is a lot considering the small population of Maldives. He said that some time back people were even scared to go near houses of people who use drugs but now people are not scared because it is so common. Furthermore, he said that murders are so common now, people do not even consider it as a big deal.
