Secretory General of JP, Ahmed Sameer have said that JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim is still in the same cell he was imprisoned before. The cell is very warm at all times and does not have proper ventilation.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Sameer said that the court ordered the police to keep Qasim in a cell with proper ventilation but the police did not follow that order.
Sameer said that the cell is very warm from sunrise tillmidnight. He said that he believes that this is torture especially for someone like Qasim who has various health problems.
Sameer said that they have also brought the matter to the attention of Human Rights Commission of the Maldives. He said that they refuse to believe that Qasim is being treated justly due to various problems like this. He said that now it is at a level that they cannot do anything about it. “ Things are more oppressive now” said Sameer.
A lot of Maldivians are raising concerns because Qasim is being treated like a terrorist even though he is among one of the most beloved Maldivians.
