Riyaz tells the police that it is more important to investigate why JP “lost” their parliament members
Deputy Leader of JP, MP Abdullah Riyaz have requested the police to investigate how JP “lost” their parliament members. He said that out of the 15 members that were elected through a JP ticket, JP now has only 7 members left in the party.
Abdullah Riyaz made this request when he was summoned to the police station to take a statement regarding JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim’s investigation.
Riyaz said that the police asked him some questions and most questions were about how they are administering the party. He said that the police asked whether they conduct membership drives and also the sources of funding for the party.
JP has always submitted their financial reports to the concerned authorities including Elections commission regularly. JP always audit the party accounts through independent auditors..
Riyaz said that the PG group of JP is very democratic and all the decisions of the PG group are recorded and those who want it can check it. Riyaz said that even though 15 members were elected through a JP ticket, there are only 7 left and so far, no one from another party joined JP hence its really important to find out how they left JP..
He said that hence there is no room to ask whether members are joining JP. He said that however, it is important to ask how JP lost their parliament members.
Riyaz said that there is no reason for the police to detain Qasim in a cell and he said that he is concerned that Qasim’s appeal process is slow.
In addition, Riyaz said that no one should accept that everyone in the country would have one ideology and the affairs of the country will be good when there are different ideologies.
