Deputy Leader of JP, Abdullah Riyaz have said that the leader of JP Qasim Ibrahim is being detained in an 8 by 6 feet cell to influence the upcoming local council elections. Riyaz said that he doesn’t not believe that Qasim should be in a such a cell.
Speaking to the press after his hearing at the Criminal Court today, Riyaz said that he does not believe that Sheik Imran, Mahloof and Nazim should be in jail. He said that he also does not believe that all political leaders who are living in exile should not be living like that.
“Around 100 JP candidates are taking part in the elections. That is why the government is trying to influence in the elections” said Riyaz.
Riyaz said that if things go this way, as going at present all political leaders will be in jail before 2018 Presidetial Election. He said that hence the opposition will not accept this. Furthermore he said that government is detaining the opposition leaders because the government is weakening even inside the parliament and that the government intends to jail the opposition leaders.
“I believe that these things were well planned in advance” said Riyaz. He said that even though the government is doing this, the situation of the country will change very soon and things will change in the way the people desires.
