Secretory General of JP, Ahmed Sameer have said that police should investigate why 9 parliament members from JP left the party and not how JP is being administered.
Sameer said that it is not the duty of the police to check how political parties are administered and that it falls under the mandate of Elections Commission. “It is the duty of the police to investigate questionable actions. But we don’t see that happening. They are doing things that are not in their mandate” said Sameer.
Sameer said that JP conducts within the boundaries of the law and always reports are submitted to the relevant institutions. Sameer said that the constitution clearly states what the state institutions should do, but today the reality is that institutions are doing whatever they want. He said that this shows how much the government is influencing the independent institutions.
Sameer said that if the government continues to do this, the state of Maldives will deteriorate day by day and nothing will be right.
