Qasim to be taken to the Criminal Court tomorrow at 16:30 to make a decision regarding his detention
Secretory General of JP, Ahmed Sameer have said that JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim is to be taken to the Criiminal Court tomorrow at 4:30 pm to make a decision regarding his detention.

Qasim was arrested on 20th April and then the criminal court remanded Qasim in to police custody for 15 days. Qasim is being kept in an 8 by 6 feet small cell without proper ventilation.

Qasim’s legal team appealed his detention at the high court and a high court hearing was held on 27th April. However, the hearing was concluded without reaching a decision regarding the detention. This is the first time the court made such a decision. High Court held a second hearing on 30th April and the court upheld the ruling of the Criminal Court.

People all over the Maldives are concerned that Qasim is being detained in a small cell. People are saying that keeping Qasim in such a small cell is an inhuman act by the government.
