President Yameen have said that the airport project is being conducted with a loan of 1.2 billion Rufiyaa and that it is being conducted because, the loan can be repaid and profits will be made from the airport.
Speaking at a rally held by PPM last night at the industrial village, the president said that the development of Maldives is linked with the airport and Maldives can win the race of development by developing the airport first.
The president said that many new resorts have been opened under the current administration and many more are on the way. He said that the airport plays a huge role in the tourism sector and hence it is the first step towards the development of the whole country.
In addition, the president said that the airport will not plunge the country in to more debts, but it will be able to generate enough revenue to repay the loans. He said that many new jobs will be created and the whole nation will benefit as a result.
