Even though the ongoing local council elections is a secret ballot, some are marking the ballot paper to identify themselves to a third party. A lot of people are concerned about this.
This matter was discussed even before. Since no ballot boxes have been opened yet, the extent this has been done cannot be determined yet. Elections Commission is asking people to refrain from all unlawful activities. Even though they make such requests, the EC officials are also doing some unlawful activities.
Despite all these problems, people are worried that these cases will not be investigated. Voter turnout was high in some islands in the morning but in the afternoon, it was low. In some island not even 33 percent of the eligible voters voted.
