Reports say that voter turnout is low in Kulhudhuhfushi in the ongoing local council elections. Kulhudhuhfushi is the most populated island after the capital Male’ in the North Zone.
By 4 pm only 33 percent of the eligible voters voted. In ballot boxes where 700 people are eligible to vote not even 300 people voted.
Kulhudhuhfushi is a politically aware island however, this low turnout shows that the people are not interested in the election.
Usually in large populations this problem is rare in the Maldives.
