Vote was not only about electing councilors but also to show what the people think about the government: Shidhaathaa
Shidhaathaa Shareef a member of AP’s national council have said that Local Council election vote was not only about electing the councilors but also to show what the people think about the government.
Speaking at a press conference held by the opposition today at Kunooz, Shidhaatha said that the vote shows that the people are not happy with the government and that the government does not have the support of the people.
In addition, speaking at the press conference Lawyer Muhammad Waheed said that votes for PPM are the only votes that the government got and all other votes including the votes for independent candidates are votes against the government. Waheed said that PPM will try to lure independent candidates like they did with JP parliament members but they cannot change what people think.
Speaking at the press MDP chairperson Hassan Latheef said that he does not believe that the election was free and fair. He said that an election’s free and fairness cannot only be determined based on the events of the voting day but also all other factors should be considered. He said that the election was held after ‘keeping the people gagged and tied up’. He said that hence there is no room to say that the election was free and fair.
