Wife of Indian Ambassador to the Maldives Akhilesh Mishra, Reeti Mishra have said that she intends to start special activities to strengthen relations between women of Maldives and India.
She said that while speaking at a ceremony held at Indian Cultural Center to display national dress of both the countries. Reeti said that even now there are strong relations between the two countries, and hence it is very important to strengthen relations between women of the two countries. She said that women who want to take part in this event can give their names to the cultural center.
There are various Maldivian women who studied from India under Indian scholarships and various Maldivian women who lived in India for a long time. Also, since there are many Indian women among expats in Maldives, such an activity would bring new social developments.
Even now there is an India-Maldives Friendship Association. However the association is not as active as before.
