Islamic University of Maldives have stated that work should be assigned to capable people and after that it should be monitored and evaluated carefully if the country is to get rid of corruption. IUM made this statement during national conference on anti-corruption.
A paper submitted by IUM in the morning session of the conference states that if work is not evaluated it will not be possible to stop corruption. In addition, it also highlighted that integrity and responsibility should be taught as a subject in schools considering the high corruption prevalence rate in Maldives. Furthermore, the paper also noted that laws that benefit some people should also be amended. Moreover, the importance of paying a reasonable salary to free state officials from influences, was highlighted in the paper.
Additionally, IUM’s paper highlighted the importance of expanding the activities conducted to raise awareness regarding corruption and also highlighted the importance of following Islamic principles in every regard.
