Asiyath Ibrahim the president of Nursing and Midwifery Council have said that since 1999 the council is being managed very well.
Speaking at a ceremony held at IGMH to inaugurate the logo of the council, Asiyath said that the president formed the council in 2015 under a specific law. However the council has been active since 1999 after it was created by a presidential resolution.
Asiyath said that the motto of the council is to provide services justly and to provide services independently. The logo was inaugurated by Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim. Nazim praised the services of Maldivian nurses and midwives.
Nazim advised to make the regulations of the council within the framework set by Health Ministry. Since there are doctors and nurses in every island of Maldives, the work done by midwives are now being done from the health centers. Last night the minister said that 99 percent of the babies born in Malidves are delivered by nurses.
