More than 2 billion dollars spent annually as medical expenditures due to climate change : WHO
World Health Organization have stated that annually 2 billion dollars is spent as medical expenditures due to climate change.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a conference held this morning at Central Hotel by WHO and Health Ministry, the representative of WHO in Maldives Dr.Arvind Maathur said that climate will change and the health sector should be ready for it.

Dr.Arvind said that island nations like Maldives should focus more on this and he noted the work that is being done by the government even now. He also noted that clean ground water is running out in various islands in Maldives and that is also creating various health problems. He highlighted that reefs in Maldives are also being damaged.

Dr.Arvind reminded that these two phenomenon are related to the tourism industry as well because the tourism depends a lot on the nature of Maldives.
