Council member of JP, Dr.Abdullah Mausoom have said that he believes that the government now knows that they have lost the majority of the parliament.
Dr.Mausoom said that if the government is trying to limit the powers of the parliament, it shows that the government has lost the majority of the parliament. “Why else should they try to limit the power of the parliament ? Why are they trying to do it? “questioned Mausoom.
Dr.Mausoom said that the current constitution was formed through a democratic procedure and now everything is being changed. He said that the government filing a case at the Supreme Court requesting a judicial review to prevent votes of no confidence against cabinet members, show that the government accepts that they do not have majority in the parliament.
“Now they really believe that the opposition has the majority” said Dr.Mausoom. In addition, he said that the governments will take such actions in this situation and this can be seen in other countries as well where the government wants to remain in power no matter what.
