Police arrests one person regarding Yameen’s death

Police have arrested one person regarding Yameen Rasheed’s death. The recently arrested person is among one of the two who appear on the CCTV footages published by the police.

A statement by the police confirmed that they have arrested one suspect. Police have stated that so far they have arrested 7 people regarding the case and they have the two people who appear on the CCTV footages in custody. The two people were arrested for being actively involved in murdering Yameen Rasheed.

In addition, police arrested lawyer Ali Shaah for obstructing the duty of police. The first arrest in this case was an 18-year-old youth who lived near Yameen’s house. It is believed that he was the one following Yameen that night. Furthermore a 22-year-old man was also arrested. It is not clear how that person took part in Yameen’s murder. Police did not reveal details of anyone else.

Yameen’s death was condemned by many including various international organizations.
