Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives has ordered Islamic Ministry not to do anything regarding this year’s Hajj quota.
This order was made because ACC is investigating a case regarding Hajj quotas. A complaint was filed to ACC saying that Islamic Ministry awarded quotas to various groups unfairly and involves corruption. Out of the 1000 Hajj quota Maldives got this year, 500 was given to Hajj Corporation of Maldives and the remaining was given to 5 other companies that won the bid to take people to Hajj.
ACC stated that since they are investigating this case, they have asked Islamic Ministry not to do anything else regarding Hajj quota.
